Domain discretization is the process of dividing a continuous domain Ω into a finite number of non-overlapping elements.

The mesh approximates the geometry and enables numerical solution of PDEs using the finite element method.

Key insight: Finer meshes give more accurate results but require more computation. The DOF count determines the size of the linear system to solve.
